Sleepy Hollow, 1790: the morning after the Van Tassels' frolic, a borrowed plow horse comes home without its saddle or its schoolmaster, and old Hans Van Ripper wants everything he lent put on the record, to the penny. What he won't put on the record is the sealed letter his dead wife left him, and the reason he has carried it unopened since January.
